Quick query. Is it possible to replace a robot within a works process that is doing a pick and place with a works human resource? (I am running VC Essentials 4.2).

You want human moving stuff from point A to B? it is possible. If pick and place do not work then use need and feed.
Edit: btw I don´t think that Academy sub is the best place for this discussion

Yes, Academy section is for Academy topics, for example additional questions related to a tutorial bug in tutorial or request for new tutorial. To the op question, yes, you can use a human worker. And as fernet_mies mentioned, a human worker can do Feed and Need type tasks as well as Process type tasks. But only a robot can do Pick and Place type tasks. Check the Works Tasks reference guide on forum for more info.
