Workpiece floats above collider

Workpiece floats above collider in press tray

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to place a workpiece into a press tray using a pneumatic robotic arm. The robot moves the workpiece above the tray and releases it, but instead of falling all the way in, the workpiece “floats” just above the black component of the tray, as if it’s stuck in mid-air.

I’ve set the black component as a precise collider because it’s supposed to pull the workpiece into the press. However, no matter how accurately I try to position the robot, the workpiece always stops above the collider and never settles fully inside the tray.

Does anyone know how to fix this behavior or what might be causing this issue?

Thanks in advance!

hi,

it is recommended to approximate concave objects in the simulation using a combination of convex hulls. I recommend slicing the container; I suspect it is a single feature in your case. You should cut it using the slice tool in modelling tab, just as marked in my screenshot.**
