Is it possible to turn off the auto backup?
I assumed it would be in options but can’t find it…
No. A workaround is to use the Task Scheduler in Windows to remove them. This article might be of help.

I normally turn off auto backup because it tends to make the application hang while you are trying to use it.
I now have learnt a bit more and realise that the auto backup in VC only saves when the user selects save, so it’s not a problem for me.
