Hi, very new to VC.
I’m trying to do a warehouse simulation, and I can’t locate any trucks or trucks with trailers in the e-catalog.
I see several results of people using trucks in other posts, and I found an example template with a truck, but I can’t find the “Truck with container” in the e-catalog anywhere.
Any ideas? Has this been deprecated?
Hello. I searched briefly the older versions of eCatalog for the truck (starting from VC release 4.3), but a truck component was nowhere to be found. If it was an eCatalog component somewhen in the history, it is most probably not available anymore.
However, you may easily simulate a truck yourself, in case you find a suitable 3D CAD model for a truck somewhere. You could import the truck 3D model from the Home tab, attach a process node or sink inside the truck’s container (depending on whether it transports material in or out), and use component Translational Axis from category Signal Positioners to move the truck back and forth (in and out of the docking area) by sending signals from the feeder/sink process.
I think the example layout with a truck does the same; the truck model does not have any functionalities itself, but it is moved by a signal positioner and products are created with a process node.

There at least were a couple of demo palletizing layouts with a decent looking truck & trailer.

Open the Layout “Palletizing Layout With Truckload Forming”
1 - If you are using Professional or Premium, you can save it as a new component.
2 - If you are using Essentials, delete all the other componentes (and Process Modelling Logic) and start you model there.
Thanks for the reply. I’m using Essentials, for now, so I’ll try approach number 2. Hadn’t considered that, but I think that should work!
That sounds like a good strategy. I’m going to try the approach another person suggested of using one of the existing layouts that has a truck and clearing everything, then starting from that file. I’ll keep this in mind for the future, or if I hit any roadblocks with the first plan.
