how can i find out why vc takes a long time to start who is the bad time eater?

I guess it is not that what takes time, there just aren’t any log prints for the stuff that does.
Do you have Python and .NET add-ons installed? Loading those can add up, or maybe just one of them waits for something, causing a delay.

jes I have .NET Add-ons but nothing of them do timetaking stuff. I have some Checkpoint in the oninitialize- an mainwindowshown methods but all came after the huuuuuge delay!
What ist the normal starting time of VC 4.6 Premium?

Just tested with VC 4.6 Premium. Startup time was ~20 seconds.
Not by timing exactly but eyeballing, 4.6 is slower starter than 4.5., which in turn was much faster than the earlier ones. I’ve been using Professional.
I’m not usually wrong but now it happened again. My laptop Pro: 4.5 29 s vs. 4.6 26 s.
