Retain color information when importing geometry

Is it possible to retain color information when importing geometry from a SolidWorks file.
It seems that there is no difference if materials and textures checkboxes are checked.
Include:
Materials and Texture

I use Solidworks 2022 and Visual Components Professional 4.8

I noticed that importing a STEP file (version 214) with color information imports correctly and I get the color in the original file.

My aim is to apply materials and colors in the SolidWorks assembly and get the same representation in VisualComponents.

What option do you have in “Material creation rule”? Maybe you have the option that tries to find the best match rather than create always a new material?

In any case, can you share what information exactly is not being retain exactly?

I have the Material Creation Rule “Create new material if no good match in library”

I figured some of it out by a lot of trial and error.
The problem seemed to be the fact that I wanted to import a SolidWorks assembly.
Colors applied in the assembly are not transferred over to Visual Components. But colors applied to the components themseves are coming through.
If you have an assembly in SolidWorks with 5 identical parts, all of them are colored with the original color once imported into VC
