Linear part positioner

I have just started using visual components and the cell we are building is a robotic plasma cutting system. The part will be moved past the robot using a linear positioner that is controlled by the robot so that we can achieve coordinated motion. I can create paths and jobs with our current setup. Some cuts will be several meters long. With the current setup in VC I am only able to index the part perform a section of the cut and index again. I would like for the robot to essentially remain stationary while the positioner pushes the part past the robot. This type of motion and positioning is readily available for rotary based positioners, but I am not able to find a way to enable this functionality on a linear positioner. So I’m looking for guidance on where to start with configuring this.
