Can a Process Node move together with an AMR and still receive ProductIn/ProductOut operations?
Scenario:
AMR picks up an empty door trim rack.
Worker follows the AMR.
Worker loads products into the rack at multiple locations.
The rack contains a Process Node used as ProductIn destination.
After reaching 20 parts, AMR returns and drops the full rack.
Is it possible to implement a movable Process Node attached to a rack/AMR in Process Modeling?
In addition, if there is a better or more recommended approach for implementing this type of simulation, we would greatly appreciate your guidance and recommendations.
@DONGHEE You must know that VC does not have AMR modules, only MR or AGV modules, so it can only do some very simple handling and cannot perform complex tasks. VC is just starting to develop AMR modules and it is estimated that it will take a long time to release them. If you want to do AMR simulation, it is recommended to choose other simulation software first!!
Interesting scenario. In general I would agree with @luhan that as much as I’ve done simulations involving mobile robots, it’s not straight-forward and I’ve used different methods that feel like workarounds sometimes.
For example, I did one simulation also involving the robot picking an empty rack/transporting full rack. The capacity + tool setup simply didn’t work, so I ended up defining the rack + products as an assembly (first step rack, second step a pattern of products) and so loading became processing an assembly. Worked pretty well.
As to having the robot move to certain spots, another trick I used was defining a very short Work statement for the robot before TransportIn, forcing it to move there - and then a ReserveResource / ReleaseResource to keep it there for the duration of the process. That trick is also used in one Academy lesson. (in this case the process node is in the evnironment though, not attached to the robot)
I feel like these options could be used in this case to achieve most of this, I have no idea if worker can be made to follow the robot though.
For the product flow, I attached a process node to the AMR. For the AMR’s motion, I used missions. Both systems are communicating with each other using signals to ensure the right process sequence.
