you could create a frame “pick” where the robot is supposed to grab the part.

The robot transport controller manual in VC Academy has instructions on how this can be done with the robot TC. One way is to modify the PickApproachDirection parameter in the transport link properties. Alternatively, you can create a frame “pick” to the product, and the robot will pick it from there.
