How to connect a robot that only supports modbus tcp and ethernet protocol to VC?

I have a robot ,it is just support modbus tcp and ethernet, how can i connect it to VC?

Maybe you could use tcp or udp over ethernet?
Probably the easiest approach is to add some OPC gateway to your system to make the communication simpler.

I think this choice is the easiest.But I am not sure that my teacher will agree.
