    @joedavid:

    That redering performance sounds pretty okay. 3 secs per frame. Your graphic card is quite a monster though. I’m not sure if you can tweak something on the blender side to get a better performance from that card. But that’s a topic I can’t help you with (coz I don’t know). I tested with a single UR robot moving in the scene and I get a little less than 2s per frame with the fullHD resolution and 16 samples.

    @captain_feature:

    This looks nasty. It could be that the python is struggling to access the file for writing. Looks like your Documents folder is on a server drive. Could you try to move the addon to a local folder with write permission. You can install the addon from any folder by dragging and dropping the __init__ file from the command folder to the VC 3d scene. Just make sure that the addon is not already added (i.e. remove it from the My Commands folder for this test)

    Hi,

    Could you kindly send a test layout. I found a bug that may cause this. Would love to test it with your layout.

    Here’s an example rendering. It took 1 hour and 27 minutes to render the video on my Lenovo laptop.

    https://youtu.be/DbIZzut1koI

    I had Bloom enabled, two light studio preset with an extra spot light. Depth of field node was set the the bin and F Stop 1.6.

    Changes made to the default Bin picking layout prior rendering:

    • I removed the texture from the material used for the bin and added metallic with little roughness
    • Changed the safety panels to glassy and made the material a little less dark
    • Copied couple safety panels more to make the fence wider
    • Set “castmetal” style for orange material. (material edits done with csv)

    New version of the addon available in another thread.

    Blender 2.80 Addon

    It will support 2.8 and it is tuned for Eevee. If you prefer using Cycles, I’d recommend to stick to this version of the addon.

    The 2.8 and Eevee is a lot faster so I highly recommend to give it a go!

    The NVidiia PhysX engine included in VC can’t probably handle this. So it needs to be simulated with mathematical formulas.

    Hi,

    Haven’t encountered that issue before. Could you kindly send the error message  support@visualcomponents.com. You can copy the text from the error message dialog panel.

    Please use more suitable thread. If you can’t find one, please create a new one.

    This thread is for “Light Source”

    Also notice that the location 1000,1000,1000 in the example script is world coordinates. You could use e.g. app.OnRender event to update the location of the light dynamically.

    Also the light acts a little differently in the Shaded mode than in the RealisticShaded mode. I’ll try to add some example light components in the online ecat.

    You can do that using the python API. The light sources can’t be attached to a component but you can modify the position of the light in a script in the OnSimulationUpdate event to keep the light ‘attached’ to a component.

    This snippet shows the basics.

    Then you can make it blink like this:

    You can send a string in the python script using the signal method.

    Hi,

    I get some error messages when running your layout.

    I deleted the human resource model and took a new fresh human model from the library. That seems to fix the layout.

    EDIT: the date in your screenshot is a little outdated. The latest one is 3/25/2019. You can force run the library updater by running the executable shown below. It should launch that automatically everytime you launch the VC application.

    C:\Program Files\Visual Components\Visual Components <VERSION> 4.1\VisualComponents.eCatalogue.UpdateWebCat.exe

    Jerry, I’m not sure if that kind of effect is doable with the addon. Could you describe more in details what you are after? Or can you post an example video or picture of a similar effect.

    Zicorob,

    Do you have the light components in the under Lights folder in the command folder. Looks like the addon fails to add the light components. You can try to manually drag and drop the light component into the scene from the file browser.
