If you open a VCP file in a 4.0 product, you can find the extracted files at this URL on your device:
C:\Users<Username>\AppData\Local\Visual Components\Visual Components Premium 4.0\eCatalog\Current Layout\
Technically, 4.0 does not support VCP files, but just an FYI if you are using them in 2014 and are planning to move to 4.0.
